About
This is a competition team for Elementary aged kids who are wanting to be more involved in dance! There will be a "placement practice" in order to tryout (more info below). This team includes instruction in various techniques. The team will learn both a jazz and pom routine. The team practices on Tuesday evenings and Sunday afternoons, instruction will begin in August and go until the JEM state competition. They will compete at 3 local competitions. They will also participate in the homecoming parade, our program showcase, and a basketball game during 1/2 time. This team has a total fee of $285 which includes instruction, competition registrations, jazz shoes, tights, costume rentals, poms, and a team jacket. If you are a returning team member and have jazz shoes and tights please contact us for an updated cost.
Placement Practice
New this year, in order to be placed onto the junior prep team you will need to go to a placement practice. There are coaches who will be observing to see if your dancer is a better fit for our youth or junior prep team. Things that will be considered are focus, maturity, attitude, and ability to make corrections. Although skill may be considered there is no experience necessary for the placement practice. The coach's decision will be final, however, we would be happy to provide feedback. If you are not interested in the junior prep team there is no need for the placement practice, you can sign up for the youth team! We want to make sure each dancer is on the team that is best for them and their families. Please reach out with any questions.
